RestinCal is a free calorie counter and food diary built for one purpose: to make tracking calories and nutrition so clear and effortless that it doesn't feel stressful. Many people give up on calorie tracking early because the apps are complicated, hidden behind paywalls, or full of conflicting advice. RestinCal was created to solve exactly that problem.
With RestinCal you can track your daily energy intake, macronutrients and weight, calculate a personal calorie target and keep a food diary, all in one place, without forced sign-up while you try it, and completely free.
I am Johannes Pakkanen, known on the site as Johannes P. I am a self-taught exercise enthusiast who has lost more than 40 kilograms. I am building RestinCal to make food and calorie tracking as simple and accessible as possible, free of charge. The service combines practical tools, personal experience and information I would have found useful at the beginning of my own weight loss.
I develop and maintain the app based on user feedback and my own ideas. Since this is not a large corporation, I personally read every message and development suggestion. Feedback and ideas are always welcome at support@restincal.com.
I also write RestinCal's blog articles based on my personal experience, practical tracking and the sources listed with each article. I am not a doctor or registered dietitian, so the content does not replace an individual assessment from a healthcare professional.
The service is funded by modest advertising (Google AdSense). This model allows the app to remain free for everyone.
RestinCal is for anyone who wants to understand their eating better, whether the goal is weight loss, building muscle, maintaining weight, or simply curiosity about what your diet actually contains. It's designed especially for beginners who have never counted calories: no prior knowledge is needed, and the tools guide you along the way. More experienced users will also find detailed macro and micronutrient data, recipe nutrition calculation and long-term tracking.
The service brings together all the core tools for weight management and nutrition tracking:
The relationship between energy intake and expenditure is important in weight management. RestinCal estimates basal metabolic rate with the Mifflin–St Jeor equation and uses an activity factor to estimate total daily expenditure. These figures are estimates, not measurements or personal medical advice. In practice, compare the estimate with several weeks of tracking and make changes gradually.
Your privacy is a starting point of the design. The health data you enter, such as weight, body fat percentage and food diary, is yours, and it is never shared or sold to advertisers. You can delete your account and all your data at any time. Read more in our Privacy Policy and Terms.
